Dominican Yaroa Recipe, you need to try!
Yaroa is one of my favorite traditional dishes that originated in Santiago in the Dominican Republic. It can be prepared in many versions, but it's most often made with mashed sweet plantains, pork, chicken, cheese, fries, and condiments such as mayonnaise, ketchup, or mustard.
Potato fries
- 24 oz potato peeled and cut into sticks
- 4 tablespoon olive oil
- ¾ tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
Meat
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 red onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 pound minced beef
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 bell pepper
- 1½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 sprig cilantro
Toppings
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- ⅓ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
Layer the fries on top of the meat onto a microwave-safe plate. Sprinkle the mozzarella and cheddar on top of the fries. And the hot fries should melt the cheese. If it doesn't, heat the plates in the microwave for 30 seconds, and lastly drizzle the cheese with mayo & ketchup.
