SZA’s Sizzle in the Music Industry

Her breakthrough came in 2014 with the release of her debut EP, Z, which featured one of her most known singles, The Weekend. The success of “Z” catapulted her to the forefront of the music industry. In 2017, SZA released her debut album, Ctrl, which received widespread praise and commercial success. Ctrl earned her multiple Grammy nominations and firmly established her as one of the most promising voices in modern R&B.
In March of this year, I got the chance to witness SZA perform at Madison Square Garden for her album “SOS”. Although it was packed with screaming young adults, it was truly an experience. SZA floating on a lifeboat throughout the venue during “Nobody Gets Me” with a lighthouse shining in the back will forever be ingrained in my mind. The visuals on the big screens made it seem as if I was watching a live music video with scenes varying from her diving into an ocean, to her fighting samurai.
