From High School in Jakarta to Concerts in New York
I got into NIKI during high school with my brother putting me on to the song "Vintage". I remember watching the music video for "Vintage" over and over again on my tv. From there I began fully immersing myself in her music starting with her debut album, Zephyr. Throughout her three albums, you can hear the development of her voice and songwriting. Her songs have gone from being primarily pop-centric to more mellow over the years. Personally, I think that NIKI is an amazing lyricist and there really is a story behind all her songs if you listen closely. I could do a whole deep dive into her discography, but I’ll leave that up to you.
She is currently on a world tour for her newest album, Nicole. Her North America and Asia tour for the album passed in the fall of 2022. Unfortunately, I was unable to score tickets for her first tour but when she announced that New York was going to be on her list of cities for the world tour, I jumped at the opportunity to see her in person.
Since the tickets were GA, my friends and I got there early so we could be closer to the stage. We were about 7 rows from the stage and we managed to get a clear view of NIKI.
