5 Seconds of Summer or 5SOS is a band from Sydney, Australia that formed in 2011. 5SOS consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Luke Hemmings, lead guitarist Michael Clifford, bassist Calum Hood, and drummer Ashton Irwin. 

While an outsider might call them a boy band, they wanted to separate themselves from the title as they viewed it to have negative connotations. ‘Boy band’ had sort of an artificial taste to it compared to their humble beginnings, starting in a garage. 

I started listening to them in middle school and know virtually every song from their debut album and their second album, “Sounds Good Feels Good”. I remember my classmate and I would look for their, “Sounds Good Feels Good”, tour tickets during math class in 2016, hoping to find affordable seats. Unfortunately, we did not end up going but I was able to score tickets for The 5 Seconds of Summer Show tour at MSG this August.
