The Beach is just the Beginning when you are in Antigua & Barbuda—my home
Looking for you next destination? Travel to Antigua and Barbuda, where the beach is just the beginning! I know this is a great place to visit because I am from Antigua. The twin-island state is known for having 365 white and pink sandy beaches, one for everyday of the year. You can travel from Antigua to Barbuda on a boat or plane and arrive in no time.
In Antigua, you can visit canons used to protect the island at Fort Berkeley and Fort James. Learn more about the country’s history at the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda. Climb the island’s highest point, Mount Obama, formerly known as Boggy Peak, which is 1.319 ft. Then, tour the Betty’s Hope ruins, which was once a sugarcane plantation.
You can also take a look at the sugarcane factory on Factory Road, carefully cross the limestone bridge with roaring waves at Devil’s Bridge and zip line at Fig Tree Drive. Take in the beautiful view at the top of Shirley’s Heights, explore the Pillars of Hercules and go snorkelling at Stingray City with the stingrays.
In Barbuda you can explore the pink sand beaches, caves, the frigate bird sanctuary and the lagoon. My favorite places to visit are the beach, Shirley’s Heights, Stingray City, Great Bird Island and driving around the south coast.
