What would Death Note look like if Cardi B took over the story

First thing she’d do is accidentally let Ryuk appear on Instagram Live. Not on purpose. Ryuk would just be standing in the background eating apples while she’s ranting in the front seat of a Lamborghini somewhere in Shibuya at two in the morning. Within an hour, Japanese tabloids would have fifty theories about whether the giant demon behind her was CGI, a publicity stunt, or some new Tokyo influencer.

Light Yagami spent the whole series pretending to be invisible. Cardi B has never pretended to be invisible a single day in her life. That’s why she’d completely destroy the logic of Death Note. Light won because he was patient, cold, and careful. Cardi wins arguments by overwhelming people with personality before they even know what happened.

Imagine L trying to investigate her.

L would be sitting barefoot in some dark hotel room eating strawberry shortcake while Cardi is outside screaming at paparazzi in custom leather boots with Ryuk standing next to her looking entertained out of his mind. The task force would never even know where to begin. Half the detectives would secretly become fans. The other half would spend all day trying to figure out if Kira had somehow turned into a celebrity.

Ryuk would probably prefer Cardi over Light. Ryuk was bored the entire series. That was the whole reason he dropped the notebook into the human world in the first place. Light gave him strategy. Cardi would give him spectacle. Tokyo car chases. Livestreams. Nightclubs. Internet drama. Giant crowds in Shibuya following her around while rumors spread that she can predict people’s deaths.

The funniest part is that Cardi probably wouldn’t even use the Death Note the same way Light did. Light wanted to become a god. Cardi would turn it into celebrity mythology. The notebook wouldn’t stay hidden in a desk drawer for long. It would become part of the brand.

And somehow, in the middle of all that chaos, L would still be sitting there staring at her, already knowing she’s guilty.
