While Adventure Time had its series finale in 2018, fans can expect a new spinoff, Fionna and Cake, on August 31st, 2023 on Max. Fionna and Cake were first seen in Adventure Time as characters in the Ice King’s fanfiction you, written as genderbent versions of the characters Finn and Jake. The new trailer has many fans speculating on the shows plot, featuring Fionna and Cake longing for a more magical existence, alongside glimpses of familiar characters like Marceline and Simon, and what appear to be alternate universes. Many are particularly excited to see Marshall Lee, originally voiced by Donald Glover, who appears to be reclaiming his role. This is not the first Adventure Time spinoff, with the Distant Lands specials releasing from Max in 2020-2021, but many are excited to see more from their faves in Fionna and Cake.
