Junoon performed live for the Concert for Pakistan on September 12th, 2009 at the UN General Assembly Hall in New York.
Junoon. One word that holds so much meaning: passion, desire, madness. I remember listening to Junoon’s songs as a child, but to hear those same songs live is another experience altogether. Junoon, a popular Pakistani rock band, performed on September 12th at the UN General Assembly Hall in New York to shed light on the plight of Pakistan. They performed to some of their best songs including, “Sayonee,” “Allah Hu” and “Lal Meri Pat” and it was simply amazing to see how the crowd was awakened by their music. Forgetting about their formal tuxedos and fancy suits, people were up and about dancing. However, looking beyond the music, Salman Ahmad has truly lived up to the name Junoon in having a desire to make a difference in the world. Although it was the “Concert for Pakistan,” it was made very clear why each and every one of us should be involved and make some effort to help the people of Pakistan. Although it may be on the other side of the world, it is still part of the same world we live in and ultimately, whatever happens in one part of the world will surely affect us sooner or later.
