Ninja Assassin Review

I expected to watch a kickass kung-fu film when I went to see "Ninja Assassin" on the day it came out. Instead, what I saw was just...alright? I don't have the exact word for it, but it wasn't bad, but it wasn't all that exciting.

After watching it, I was wondering if Raizo was bland and had lacked personality because he was raised as a soulless murderer or if it's the actor who plays him that's really like that in real life? Then I had to take into account every other person in the film with a similar personality, whether they were a ninja or not. The plot of this film is very incomplete,  it is pretty much only used to justify the ninjas killing each other.

Of course, anyone who chooses to see this film will not care so much about the acting or its incomplete plot but instead want to see the bloody violence. If you want to see brutal action, then you better be prepared to wonder what the hell is going on in all the darkness and speedy motion. It took me about a minute before I realized there was a ninja fighting an assassin  who was trying to assassinate a woman in her room. It looked like the assassin was just twerling a chain around the room just to present the cool special effects the film had to offer.
If anyone has seen the original "Kill Bill", they will find the over-the-top blood spraying out of the bodies familiar, the only difference being that you will obviously know that the blood is CGI when watching this film.

The action scenes (when I could see them) are very quick and lift me feeling less exposed to the excitement that they were supposed to dispose on me. In the end, I felt like I was withheld of any type of feeling of happiness and instead disappointed with how the movie played out. This film isn't worth the time, wait for "Avatar" and maybe you will feel more inspired from watching that.
